On April 13, an unprecedented concert of Philharmonic Orchestra of
Montevideo was held at Teatro Solis, Montevideo on the initiative
of the newly appointed RA Honorary Consul to Uruguay, businessman
Rouben Abrahamyan.
Uruguayan governmental and parliamentary officials, as well as
diplomats and 1.000 guests attended the concert dedicated to the 95th
commemoration of Armenian Genocide, RFE/RL reports.
The orchestra headed by the conductor Alvaro Hakobyan played Komitas,
Aram Khachaturian and Astor Piazzolla.
Abrahamyan and RA Ambassador to Uruguay Vladimir Karmirshalyan
appreciated high Uruguay's stance on Armenian Genocide in their
speeches recalling that Uruguay was the first country in the world
to recognize Armenian Genocide officially.
