Namik Tan Turkish Ambassador to the United States Namik Tan has
commented on the issue of recognizing the so-called "Genocide" of
Armenians by the US Congress.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to the United
States, Namik Tan, once former head of the Turkish diplomatic mission
in Tel Aviv, a great and worthy friend of the Azerbaijani community
in Israel, said that Armenians have been spreading the legend of the
so-called "Armenian genocide", for decades pouring mud on Turks and
Azerbaijanis and accusing them of crimes they have never committed.
'But, unfortunately, the world knows almost nothing about the terrible
tragedy of the town of Khojaly. The Khojaly tragedy, which killed
hundreds and injured thousands of Azerbaijanis, is a tragedy all the
Turkic world. This tragedy of the brotherly people of Azerbaijan
is in line with such terrible tragedies of the twentieth century,
as Khatyn, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Songmi,' said Namik Tan.
According to the Turkish diplomat, Jews living in Turkey are well
aware that Turks have never committed genocide. We call this the
events of 1915.
'This has nothing to do with genocide. We openly tell Armenians: let's
create a joint commission of historians, attract researchers from the
third countries, begin to explore the archives and come to a common
denominator", said Tang. According to the diplomat, the Armenians
have turned the issue of "genocide" into political bargaining.
