TOVMAS POGHOSIAN: HOW MUCH IN DEMAND IS MOTHER TONGUE TODAY?

Armenian folk songs are as much in demand today as Armenian language
is, Tovmas Poghosian, and Honored Artist of Armenia, told journalists
Friday.
"How much in demand is the mother tongue today? Is it possible to ask
such a question?" he said stressing that the question of that kind
is offensive to everyone, especially for a nation with huge cultural
and historical heritage as well as with statehood.
Tovmas Poghosian said that Armenia is moving forward and said that
the tomorrow is encouraging, especially keeping in view the measures
by county's Ministry of Culture, which has been already taking steps
for pushing the national culture from the deadlock.
"If it is raining today, then it doesn't mean that the following day
will be rainy. If in this sphere there are some 'misunderstandings'
then it doesn't mean that it will remain so for ages," assured Tovmas
Poghosian.
