Washington. Isabel Levine - APA. "US president have stopped the
genocide resolution in the past, and I believe that president Obama
will do so in this case", told APA's Washington correspondent Shale
Horowitz, professor on international and ethnic conflicts, at the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Meanwhile, analyst believes that there is a lot of political posturing
all around on this issue.
"There is no inherent reason why such resolutions matter much. They
have not mattered when they have been passed by other countries".
According to Mr. Horowitz, US Congressman are mostly trying to please
domestic constituencies when they vote for resolutions like "Armenian
genocide" one.
Speaking about the protocols between Turkey and Armenia, he says they
seem to be a diplomatic ruse.
"It seems clear that the protocols will not be approved in Turkey
unless there is a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute" -
he added.
