The National Neoconservative Movement will gather a rally in support
of the Council of Armenian NGOs of Samtskhe Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli
at the Georgian Embassy in Yerevan on April 20, 3pm local time.
"This Council is the only organization addressing the problems
of Armenians in the region. That is why it's now under particular
pressure of the Georgian authorities. Tomorrow's rally means to show
our support to it on the threshold of municipal elections in Georgia,"
NNM leader Eduard Abramyan told journalists on April 19.
He informed that 8 parties, including ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Social
Democrat Hunchakian Party as well as 48 NGOs joined the action,
and called on all political forces to do so, since "forces which are
incapable to protect Javakheti Armenians' rights will not be able to
defend RA citizens."
Asked by a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter whether the support of Armenian
political parties can instigate Georgian authorities to exert stronger
pressure on Armenian activists in Javakhk, Mr. Abrahamtan said that
the effect will be opposite. "This support will prevent Georgian
leadership's pressure," he said.
"Armenian authorities' disregard of Javakhk problems is the result
of narrow business interests," the leader of National Neoconservative
Movement concluded.
