CONSTRUCTION VIOLATIONS IN DISASTER ZONE INDICATED BY THE PRESIDENT TO BE CORRECTED TILL MAY 2010

ArmInfo. Violations in construction of multistory residential buildings
in the disaster zone will be corrected till May 2010, said Minister
of Urban Development Vardan Vardanyan in a press conference on Tuesday.
During his visit to Gyumri on Dec 23 2009, President Serzh Sargsyan
indicated at defects in the interior furnishing and gasification of
flats of Mush-2 quarter. In fact, an extraordinary discussion was held
on the spot. Serzh Sargsyan charged to remove all the defects in the
new buildings till 15 May 2010. "The necessary work is partially over,
and till May 15 it will be finally completed," the minister said.
Mush-2 consists of 22 apartment houses with a total of 1.056 flats.
The finishing of the buildings will cost 3.3 billion drams. The
minister said that nearly 300 million drams were saved thanks to
optimization of construction materials supply (directly by vendors).
"We can invest the saved funds in new housing and schools
construction," the minister said.
The government is expected to finally settle the housing problems of
the population in the zone of 1988 earthquake till 2013. Nearly 7000
people are still waiting for their flats at present.
