Armenia-Turkey normalization did no reach a stalemate, its
continuation and development is obvious, Deputy Chairman of "Rule of
Law" Party (OYK) Mher Shahgeldyan said at the April 20 meeting with
journalists. According to him, the process can be lasting. "We are
through negotiating, diplomatic and regional track which has its own
stages and logic," he stated.
Commenting on the statements by Armenian and Turkish sides on
reconciliation, Shahgeldyan said: "Some concepts of this process
ending are available, they have already been formed. Our position
is clear: Armenia says &'relations without preconditions' and the
approaches already agreed upon under the Protocols signed last year
in Zurich advance. Turkish side holds conflicting views within ruling
political elite, that makes different statements. That is to say,
we reckon the problem is with them."
Asked about terms of Armenia-Turkey border opening, Shahgeldyan
replied that it is difficult to announce a date at the moment, but
basically it is based on Turkish side's stance.
