COMMEMORATION CEREMONY ON 95TH ANNIVERSARY OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE HELD IN BRATISLAVA

YEREVAN, APRIL 23, ARMENPRESS: Commemoration ceremony was held today
in Bratislava on the 95th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. An
official from Forum of Armenian Association of Europe told Armenpress
that the Ambassadors of France, Russia, Poland, Bulgaria and
Greece to Slovakia attended the ceremony of putting a wreath on the
cross-stone-monument erected on Danube riverside.
Ashot Grigorian, president of Forum of Armenian Association of Europe
(FAAE), in his speech expressed gratitude to all the states, which
recognized the most horrific crime committed against the humanity
at the beginning of the 20th century. Mr. Grigorian expressed hope
that the parliaments of all the countries, ambassadors of which were
present at the ceremony, will recognize the Genocide as well.
Pavol Hrushovski, former speaker of Slovakia's Parliament, leader of
the Slovak Christian-Democratic party, and Jan Carnogursky, former
Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic also addressed speeches at
the ceremony. They mentioned in their speeches that the Parliaments
of the states, which gave a political assessment to the fact of the
Armenian Genocide, 'just did their duty'. The speakers blamed the
current Turkish authorities for denying the historical truth and
blockading Armenia.
Some of the attendees claimed that the decision of RA President on
suspending the procedure of the Armenian-Turkish protocols was quite
appropriate and that 'it will be a slap in the face of the Turkish
Government, so that it could properly assess the situation and make
right decisions'.
The speakers declared that they consider it their duty to make the
fight more active in order all the member-states of the European
Union recognized the Armenian Genocide and supported Armenia as a
Christian country.
