"Turkish people should understand, recognize and condemn everything
their ancestors carried out against the Armenians. Turkey should
recognize the Armenian Genocide," Armenian Diaspora Minister Hranush
Hakobyan told reporters at Tsitsernakaberd memorial today.
She said, had the leading powers prevented the Turks from 1915
atrocities, the genocide would not have re-occurred in any country
later. "If the current Turkish powers feel committed to not forging,
rejecting their history, they would appear more democratic and
civilized, I think. By recognizing and condemning the Armenian
Genocide, they will be more comprehensible for the world and Armenia,"
Minister said.
H. Hakobyan signified the role of the Armenian Diaspora over
recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and highlighted
that the whole Armenian nation today stands for Hay Dat (the Armenian
Cause): Armenia, Diaspora and Nagorno-Karabakh.
