On Armenian Genocide Anniversary, Thousands to Descend on LA Turkish Consulate

Thousands from across California are expected to descend on the
Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 24, 2010. The
event will be used to demonstrate for an end to Turkey's 95 year
campaign of "genocide denial" as well as the recognition of the
Armenian Genocide by the United States. It will take place from 4 to 6
    PM PDT.

April 24, 1915, is generally thought to be the date of the beginning
of the Armenia Genocide. Since then, and even to today, Turkey has,
while not explicitly denying the tragedy, denied the use of the word
"genocide." At the same time, while the U.S. House of Representatives'
Foreign Affairs Committee has passed HR 252 by a narrow vote, Turkey
has mounted a campaign against passage of that bill.

The resolution, awaiting vote by the full House, calls for recognition
of the Armenian Genocide. The protest on Saturday is organized by the
    Armenian Youth Federation.

The Armenian Genocide protest organizers have arranged for bus
transportation for those requiring it. Buses will be provided from the
    following locations:
