TONAKANYAN LEFT OUT OF COMPETITION IN BAKU

World Junior Boxing Championship 2010 started today in the Azerbaijani
capital of Baku. Of all the six Armenian boxers participating in this
contest Karen Tonakanyan was the first to compete, though he could
not seriously resist his English rival Henry Thomas.
Tonakanyan yielded to Thomas at a 4:6 score during the first round
and then at 3:8 in the second one. Thomas widely won the third round
(11:6) securing his victory.
Tonakanyan was in this way left out of the competition.
Three Armenian boxers are also expected to compete today. Among
them are Koryun Soghomonyan (48kg) will compete with Nurbek Ablagov
(Kyrgyzstan) today. Should he defeat Ablagov, Soghomonyan will then
compete with the winner of Moris Ochieng (Kenya)- Charlie Edwards
(England) couple.
Hovhannes Bachkov will compete with Edgaras Skurdelis (Lithuania)
in the 54 kg category.
Among Armenians to compete today is also Hrayr Matevosyan (60kg). His
rival is Juan Karasko (Argentine), reports Armsport.am.
