PACE SPRING SESSION GETS UNDERWAY IN STRASBOURG

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE ) spring
session has got underway in Strasbourg Monday and is due by April 30.
Addresses by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich and Russian
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, as well as a series of debates on
the consequences of the economic crisis, are among highlights of PACE
session. The parliamentarians will debate a report on discrimination
on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, which calls
for the legal recognition of same-sex partnerships across Europe,
according to the PACE official website.
An Armenian delegation member to the PACE Naira Zohrabyan told
Panorama.am she will make two reports. In a report on associating
women in the prevention and the solution of conflicts, she will refer
to the genocide of the Armenians by Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakhi
village of Maraga and will present facts on the tortures of the Maraga
people, particularly, women and children.
In the second report on Doris Fiala refugees and forced expulsion,
she will touch upon ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan and
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's recent statement over Azerbaijan
has never conducted ethnic cleansings.
