ArmInfo. Putting an innovation into practice is a very long process
starting from an idea. Today the National Academy of Sciences of
Armenia does not have necessary resources to bring scientific ideas
to the final result, President of the National Academy of Sciences
of Armenia Radik Martirossyan said during a press-conference today.
For this purpose it needs a wide spectrum of research equipment,
a complex of laboratories, engineering personnel.
Today over 100 Armenian scientific-technical organizations receive
budgetary financing. Only 30 of them are part of the Academy.
Ellaboration of innovative development schemes is the task of
ministries and departments rather than the Academy but they are not
doing anything to this end, first of all, because there is no money
for putting ideas into practice. "In order to solve this problem, we
should intensify our cooperation with international organizations,"
Martirossyan said.
He said that one of the key problems of the Academy is wear of research
infrastructure and laboratory equipment and if we fail to modernize
them we will lag behind the scientific-technical progress.
One more problem is lack of money. "Our scientists receive very low
wages. In order to partly upgrade our research infrastructure we need
almost $100mln. A small part of this sum has already been obtained
from international structures," Martirossyan said.
