14:10 10.08.10
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will on August 19 pay a landmark
visit to Armenia - his second since his tenure of office, according
to Russian news agency Regnum.
A series of agreements are expected to be signed during Mr Medvedev's
visit relating to areas such as readmission and joint fight against
migration, extension of the agreement of the Russian military base
in Armenia's second-largest city of Gyumri up to 49 years, enlarging
the functions of that military base.
Another agreement will relate to construction a new nuclear power
plant in Armenia by the Russian Rosatom.
Further citing its own sources in Moscow Regnum mentions that the
new contract about the military will rule out full-scale military
conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan aimed at solving the Nagorno
Karabakh issue through military operations.
