FOURTH ALL-ARMENIAN EDUCATIONAL ASSEMBLY KICKED OFF IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, AUGUST 13, ARMENPRESS: The fourth all-Armenian educational
assembly kicked off today in Yerevan and will last till August 17.
About 150 representatives of educational establishments of Armenian
communities of nearly 26 countries of Europe, Near East and America,
as well as of bodies and organizations engaged in national education
and upbringing partook in the summit. Armenian Education and Science
Minister Armen Ashotyan, Armenian Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan,
Chairman of the National Academy of Sciences Radik Martirosyan,
parliament members and others were also present.
The message of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan was presented,
too, in which importance was particularly attached to cooperation of
the educational establishments of Armenia and Diaspora. "Armenia is
the homeland of all Armenians, and the preservation of the Armenian
identity stems from the profits of Armenia. So the preservation of
the Armenian language and national self-consciousness are a must
condition of the eternity of our people," the message run.
A. Ashotyan welcomed the participants and noted that the goal of the
assembly is to bring together the best educational and scientific
representatives of Armenia, Diaspora, Artsakh and Javakhk and to
jointly discuss the variants of solution of the issues intended for
the upcoming 2 years. He expressed hope that during the 3 day work
a new resolution will be developed, the old program directions will
be specified, new proposals will be voiced.
H. Hakobyan also attached importance to conduction of the summit in
Armenia and expressed hope that during the three day work issues
concerning education, national upbringing will be discussed, the
works and achievements registered after the previous summit will be
presented. According to her, this is one more step directed toward
strengthening of Diaspora-Armenia tie. The 4th all-Armenian educational
assembly is conducted once in two years.
