YEREVAN, AUGUST 13, ARMENPRESS: We have not had such great number
of singers in our history; this is a new florescence of the Armenian
song, according to Djivan Gasparyan, world-famous Armenian master of
duduk. At today's press conference he spoke on the current state of
the Armenian song and music. He says the Armenian melody should be
preserved anyway.
'The Armenian culture has always been captured, our songs were sung
in Turkish, but now we have our state, we can protect our song,
our copyright,' Arsen Grigoryan (Mro) said. The singer added that the
Turks do not have anything, which comes from their roots: 'their songs,
alphabet and their country are captured'.
Djivan Gasparyan added that in Istanbul he played the 'We are sincere
soldiers' martial-patriotic song and the Turks informed him that
the same song is sung by the Turks as well, but they noted that the
Turkish variant of the song is romantic. Djivan Gasparyan says the
Armenian culture and Church played a great role in the process of
preservation of the Armenian nation.
Djivan Gasparyan is invited to Turkey to partake September in a
concert, dedicated to peace. He says he has not decided yet whether
accept the invitation or not. 'I shall consult with my friends and
then make the decision,' the musician said.
