"Tatev Wings" ropeway is the cornerstone of development of the core
of the southern tourism of Armenia, head of the Tourism Office of
the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia Syuzanna Azoyan
told Armenpress, adding that the southern tourism core starts from
Noravank, includes Jermuk town, Karahunj and Tatev.
"We are going to implement a number of programs from 2011 spring, in
order tourists, visiting these territories, stay there not 4-5 hours,
but several days," Mrs. Azoyan said, adding that Tatev ropeway and
monastic complex are the visiting cards, by which Armenia is presented
for 2011 tourism seasons.
By the second round of "Tatev Renaissance" program we intend not only
attract tourists to the south, but to multiply the number of tourists
coming to Armenia as well. To reach our goals we attach importance
to the role of tourism companies and tour operators," Mrs. Azoyan
stressed, adding that our rich cultural heritage is the most important
tourist result, but we must spread our Armenian cuisine, art, etc.
According to Mrs. Azoyan, the development of rural communities is
one of their primary goals, the development of infrastructures and
development of hotels can contribute to it.
