YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 5, NOYAN TAPAN. The Turkish side's insults
and criticism levelled at the OSCE Minsk Group have closed the
opportunities for Turkey to assume the role of a mediator in the
Karabakh conflict settlement. Political scientist Richard Giragosian -
Director of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies
(ACNIS), made this statement at the February 4 press conference. It
should be mentioned that Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan had accused
the OSCE Minsk Group of not taking any serious step on the problem's
solution. The Turkish prime minister had called for activation of the
settlement process. In the opinion of R. Giragosian, this circumstance
is to Nagorno Karabakh's benefit because Turkey should not be allowed
to become a participant in the Karabakh conflict settlement process
and have the role of a co-chair country.
