As a result of gas tariffs going up, the volume of production is
decreasing, said Union of Domestic Commodity Producers Chair Vazgen
Safaryan today, adding that the union has already expressed its
discontent on this issue to Nairit and Hrazdan cement factories.
Earlier, Hayrusgazard, a subsidiary of the Russian energy giant
Gazprom, had appealed to the state commission responsible for
coordinating public services to raise gas tariffs. According to
Safaryan, one ton of cement today costs $76 USD, and if the price
of gas goes up, exported Armenian cement won't be able to compete in
the market.
"We have to find the optimal tariff for gas, which will be beneficial
for all sectors," he said.
Safaryan added that in the next 10 days, the Union of Domestic
Commodity Producers will formulate its approaches on this issue and
will thereafter discuss them with Hayrusgazard.
