No Armenian president has the right to make one-sided concessions
on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, Armenian Revolutionary Federation
(Dashnaktsutyun) parliamentary faction leader Vahan Hovhannisyan said
at a press conference today.
He also mentioned that the issue of land concessions must be excluded
from Nagorno-Karabakh negotiations.
"This topic must be considered closed, and the negotiations must
continue under a different pretext, in which it will be convenient
that Nagorno-Karabakh also participate. There is always the danger
of an Armenian-Azerbaijani war; if there's no clear peace agreement
between the two countries, there is always the threat of conflict,"
said Hovhannisyan.
At the same time, he mentioned that the fact that Azerbaijani society
and military forces are ready for a new war is highly questionable.
"To say that Armenia is completely ready [for a new war] would not be
correct either. We know that they're coming to slaughter us; therefore,
our military forces will fight as they did last time [if Azerbaijan
instigates a war]," assured Hovhannisyan, while doubting whether
Azerbaijan would achieve an easy victory, if it succeeds at all.
