The new parameters on the content of TV programs and films have been
designed by non-professional individuals and constitute a document
that comprises a lot of controversial and vulnerable aspects, Armenian
film critic Zaven Boyajyan said at a press conference.
Boyajyan highlighted the importance of including many professionals
when designing such a document. In his words, instead of implementing
bans on films and TV programs, those in charge should follow
international practics of classifying entertainment films.
"If these parameters are backed by the law in this format, then
TV stations will have to grab a pair of scissors and cut films
into pieces, but a film is a piece of art and must not be cut,"
said Boyajyan.
Earlier the National Commission on Television and Radio (NCTR)
had presented the new parameters of TV programs to the public. The
commission had proposed a new bill which stated that films and TV
programs that have explicit sexual content or explicit scenes of
violence and horror must be broadcast only between midnight and 6 am.
