In the latter half of February 10, Prince Charles will host RA
President Serzh Sargsyan at Windsor Castle. NEWS.am correspondent
reports from London that the Armenian leader has held a meeting
with Queen Elizabeth II. Not all guests meet with such a high-level
reception in the United Kingdom. The Armenian journalists accompanying
the President were not allowed to attend the historic meetings.
London residents say that the Armenian delegation met with a warm
reception. The Armenian delegation led by President Serzh Sargsyan
is staying at the Dorchester Hotel.
A charity concert "My love, Yerevan" will be held at Windsor Castle
on February 10 the initiative of Prince Charles and the Armenian
ex-premier, businessman Armen Sargsyan. The funds to be raised at
the concert will be directed to the renovation of four buildings
in Yerevan.
Talking to NEWS.am, Armen Sargsyan said that two of the buildings
will house a music school for orphans to be directed by the renowned
musician Jivan Gasparyan. The two other buildings, near Saint Hovhannes
church, will be renovated to house a kindergarten for hearing-impaired
children and unmarried mothers and their children.
One more building will be constructed in Scotland. Armen Sargsyan said
that philanthropists from other countries are involved in the program.
He stressed that it will be a long-term program. As to whether he
will return to Armenia, A. Sargsyan said that he left his Homeland
for a while and on business. He reported that the motto of the next
program is "My love, Gyumri."
At present the Armenian President is holding a meeting with David
Miliband, British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth
Affairs. No detailed information is available.
On February 9, the Armenian President visited the Tate Gallery in
London, where he saw Arshile Gorky's works. Attending the opening
of the exhibition were prominent public figures, connoisseurs of art
and representatives of the Armenian community.
