AZERBAIJANI FM: AZERBAIJAN INTERESTED IN ACCEPTING UPDATED VERSION OF MADRID PRINCIPLES

Azerbaijan is interested in accepting an updated version of the Madrid
principles, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov told media
on Monday.
"I have recently spoken with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
He said that the Armenian side has not submitted its proposals on
uncoordinated points of the basic principles yet," Mammadyarov said.
"Our position is clear. We see the future status of Nagorno-Karabakh
within Azerbaijan, with the condition of joint living of Azerbaijani
and Armenian communities, " the Minister added.
According to Foreign Minister, the settlement process advances and
Azerbaijan is interested in accepting an updated version of the
Madrid principles.
"If the process comes to a standstill, the question will arise: what
action will be the next? The rest participants of the talks should
ask themselves this question," Mammadyarov said.
OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries are the three countries from
the five permanent members of UN Security Council. It testifies the
importance of resolving the conflict, the minister said.
"We must solve the problem of the occupied lands and the return of
refugees to their homes," Mammadyarov said.
