It is already been several years since February 19, the birthday of
famous Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan, is celebrated in Armenia as
the day of giving books as presents.
"I consider this holiday to be one of our achievements. Some traditions
have already been established in our society," said Levon Ananyan,
President of the Writer's Union of Armenia.
He also recalled that last year, thanks to the support of RA Ministry
of Culture, some 10,000 books were distributed in Armenia's marzes
(provinces) and provided to a few universities.
"We must continue this tradition," said Ananyan, adding that more
than 100 writers will take part in this year's celebration.
