Vice-Speaker of the RA Parliament Arevik Petrosyan and member
of parliamentary factions held a meeting on February 16 with a
delegation led by OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Kazakh Foreign Minister
Kanat Saudabayev.
The Information and Public Relations Department, RA Parliament, told
NEWS.am that Vice-Speaker Petrosyan expressed hope that the visit to
the region will enable the OSCE Chairman-in-Office to get acquainted
with the regional problems, discuss the Armenia-OSCE relations and
numerous other issues of mutual interest. Armenia attaches importance
to its cooperation with the OSCE, which assumed an important role in
settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Vice-Speaker Petrosyan expressed her appreciation of the OSCE
Minsk Group Co-Chairs' efforts to ensure a peaceful settlement of
the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. She underlined the Nagorno-Karabakh
people's legal demand that the internationally recognized right to
self-determination be the basis for the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
Kanat Saudabayev, in turn, expressed conviction that peace talks are
the only acceptable way of resolving the problem. To achieve results,
the conflicting parties must first of all show good will and be ready
for mutual concessions.
The OSCE Chairman-in-Office also listened to the parliamentarians'
opinions.
