YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 17, NOYAN TAPAN. "Israel intends to deliver a
missile blow to Iran's nuclear entities, scientific centers and
economic structures of strategic significance in coming July-August."
Arayik Sargsian, the Vice-Chairman of the RF Academy of Geopolitical
Problems stated at a February 17 press conference. In his words,
Israel works intensively with all countries of the South Caucasian
region so that countries neighboring upon Iran will make a coalition
against Iran during military operations.
As A. Sargsian mentioned, the Iranian President has said lately
that the country has achieved a 20% result in the issue of uranium
enrichment. While, according to the speaker, to obtain nuclear weapons
that index should be raised to 90%. According to A. Sargsian, the U.S.
just once more wants to pull burning chestnuts out of the fire with
another's, in this case, Israel's hand. In his words, Israel in its
turn feels a danger from its unsolved problems with Palestine and
to distract international community's attention from them it wants
to make Iran a target. A. Sargsian also stressed that the time of
withdrawing the troops of U.S. from Iraq and delivering a missile
blow to Iran coincides.
According to Academy's Vice-Chairman, economic sanctions will be
used to Iran before the military operations, therefore at present
Iran is already buying foodstuffs, in particular, much mutton from
Armenia. A. Sargsian mentioned that Iranian army's mutton will last
out nearly 60 days.
Touching upon Armenia's foreign policy A. Sargsian said that according
to his information, RA has applied to NATO for many times with a
request of making part of it but NATO gave a negative answer.
According to A. Sargsian, Armenia being a Collective Security Treaty
Organization member undertakes "such steps that do not fit into brains
of even private soldiers." In his words, we should realize that NATO
is an anti-Russian, aggressive structure.
