US Under Secretary discusses Nagorno-Karabakh and bilateral relations
with Azerbaijani students

Visiting U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William
Burns met with students at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy Friday to
discuss US-Azerbaijan ties and Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Burns told students that US appreciates good bilateral relations with
Azerbaijan and hails the country's contribution to the regional and
world security and global war on terrorism. Burns described the
meetings he held here as constructive.
Under Secretary said US-Azerbaijan relationship is very effective.
According to him, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is a good example of
effective cooperation between the countries.
Burns said US makes every effort to ensure regional security in the
South Caucasus and participates, alongside two other OSCE Minsk Group
co-chairs, in a process of finding a long-term solution to
Nagorno-Karabakh dispute on the basis of such Helsinki principles as
territorial integrity, self-determination and non-use of force.
`Peace, stability and tolerance can bring benefits to all people in
the South Caucasus region,' he said.
