"Iran supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. At the
international level, Iran has made and will make efforts to return
Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan", told Trend News on Sunday by phone
from Tehran Vice-Speaker of Iranian Parliament Mohammad Reza Bahonar.

According to the head of the faction of conservatives, which is in the
majority in the Iranian parliament, cultural, religious and
strategic-political relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are known to
    everybody.

"I can say with certainty that Iran sees no difference between its own
interests and the interests of Azerbaijan. In every way we will defend
the interests of Azerbaijan at the international level, including upon
    the Nagorno-Karabakh issue", he said.

A three-day visit of the Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Oqtay Asadov
to Iran started February 20. On Saturday he met with his Iranian
counterpart Ali Larijani and Iran's Supreme National Security Council
    Secretary-General Saeed Jalili.

February 22 Oktay Asadov arrives in Tabriz, Trend News was told in the
main consulate of Azerbaijan in Tabriz.

Mohammad Reza Bahonar appreciated highly the visit of the Speaker of
the Parliament of Azerbaijan in Iran.

According to him, the Iranian and Azerbaijani parliaments have a
considerable influence on their governments and therefore they can
play a significant role in the process of approach of the two
    governments.

According to Bahonar, unlike the states, between the parliaments the
discussion can take place not only within the protocols, but in closer
    format.
