"We refrain from mentioning concrete terms, but we think the
ratification process cannot last for years," Chairman of the NA
Standing Committee on State and Legal Issues David Harutyunyan told
a press conference today, speaking about the "reasonable timeframe"
for ratification of the Armenian-Turkish protocols.
"Making predictions is incorrect, but at this moment I don't see Turkey
taking any serious steps," David Harutyunyan stated in response to
the question about the probability of ratification of the protocols
by the Turkish Parliament by April 24. As for the ratification in
the Armenian National Assembly, the MP says there is no need to hurry.
May Armenia ever decide to ratify the protocols with reservations?
David Harutyunyan says it's fairer to refuse from ratification than
ratify the bilateral agreements with reservations.
According to David Harutyunyan, nothing can be ruled out in the
process, but Armenia can never be forced to take any step that counters
the interests of the Republic of Armenia.
