On February 19, the Armenian National Congress (HAK) launched an
unsanctioned march through Koryun-Abovyan-Sayat Nova streets.
In Sayat-Nova street the marchers walked along the street making
the traffic impassable. In the meantime, one of the march organizers
Sargis Ghazaryan, 1992, called on the participants to continue their
march and invited passers-by to join in their move.
5 demonstrators were detained for organizing and holding a mass
meeting with rough breaches of law. Sargis Gevorgyan, 1992, Vahagn
Gevorgyan, 1991, Tigran Arakelyan, 1981, Varag Nahapetyan 1987, and
Sergey Gasparyan 1988, were taken to Central Department of RA Police
upon the completion of the rally. All detainees were released after
giving signatures not to leave the city.
