TURKISH DELEGATION DUE TO ARRIVE IN THE US TO PREVENT ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RESOLUTION APPROVAL

The delegation chaired by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs
Committee of Turkey's Grand National Assembly Murat Mercan is due
to leave for the US late this week to prevent the adoption of the
Armenian Genocide Resolution by the US House Committee on Foreign
Affairs March 4, Turkish Sabah reported.
According to the source, Turkish delegation has planned a number of
meetings with the US authorities. The Turkish party is intent to warn
that the approval of the abovementioned Resolution will greatly harm
the US-Turkish relations.
Panorama.am recalls that US House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman,
Howard Berman (D-CA), a leading Congressional supporter of human
rights has scheduled a vote of his panel on the Armenian Genocide
Resolution, H.Res.252, for March 4. H.Res.252, introduced in March
of 2009 by lead sponsors Adam Schiff and George Radanovich (R-CA),
and Congressional Armenian Caucus Co-chairs Frank Pallone (D-NJ)
and Mark Kirk (R-IL), currently has over 135 cosponsors.
