The CJSC South Caucasus Railway (SCR), the Armenian subsidiary of
Russian Railway OJSC, has presented the renovated station Dalarik
(Armavir region), which suffered from a fire in 2004. SCR Chief
Engineer Sergey Haroutyunyan said that the damage inflicted to the
station affected the safety engineering and reduced the capacity of
trains. In general, stations on SCR undergo a complex repair, he said.

He added that the old buildings were pulled down, the rest were
renovated. The main station building of Dalarik, which has a 100-year
old history, will be reconstructed according to a special project. Now
it is brought to functional level, he said.

To recall, it was reported earlier that the total amount of repair
work at Dalarik station was about 300 mln RUR. SCR has a total of 75
stations, 4 of them being joint stations (only 1 joint is currently
in operation). In 2010 SCR will allocate 527 mln AMD for renovation
of the stations, including the station tracks. 1,216 bln AMD will be
spent on repair of other buildings, including the depots and passenger
buildings. In 2009 SCR repaired 16 station buildings and complexes.

SCR CJSC is the 100% subsidiary of Russian Railway OJSC. The company is
the concessional manager of the Armenian railway system in accordance
with an agreement signed with the Armenian government on 13 Feb
2008. The term of concession is 30 years and may be prolonged for 10
    more years.
