Azerbaijan will repeat Sumgait even today if possible: Bakur Karapetyan
15:16 / 02/27/2010`February of 1988 was very tense ' rallies in
Stepanakert, regional council's decision to withdraw Karabakh from
Azerbaijan and integrate into Soviet Armenia etc,' head of Shoushi
foundation Bakur Karapetyan told journalists on Feb. 27.
According to him, these actions made Azerbaijani side to resort to
massacres against Armenian population in Sumgait. `If Azeris have an
opportunity, they will do the same today,' Karapetyan stated, adding
that Khojali events were organized by Azeris to screen Sumgait crime.
`As a TV reporter I took the camera and went to Sumgait, where I
talked to massacres' victims and witnesses. The whole information is
included in &`¦And about it' a book and in &`Sumgait waves' film,'
Karapetyan said.
He maintained that the book remarks his 8-day observations taken at
the scene, assuring that all are based on true stories. `All shots of
film and 100 videos are captured in hot spots,' he stated. Karapetyan
also noted that all his stock materials are currently used by Azeri
side as their own archive. `Azerbaijani side lies a lot of and we
should do all we can to counter its spread in media,' he reckons.
Speaking about another book `Collection of Artsakh battle', the author
stressed that it is already published and he expects to issue 12 more
volumes in addition to the existing ones. `I have a huge archive,
materials are ready. I only have to find sponsors,' he concluded.
