YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 26, ARMENPRESS: The Armenian TV round of the
`Eurovision 2010' international song contest took place February 14.
The winner became Eva Rivas with `Apricot Stone' song. With the
request of Armenpress E. Rivas referred to the preparatory works for
the `Eurovision' song contest as well as to other questions.
- Why did you decide to take part in the `Eurovision' international
song contest and what expectations do you have from it?
- The idea of participation has appeared still in 2009 after the
`Tashir 2009' annual prize giving ceremony. We were getting prepared
during the whole year, we were searching for corresponding song with
which we would be able to present us to Europe with dignity. Our
choice fell on the `Apricot Stone' song the authors of which are Karen
Kavaleryan and Armen Martirosyan. From the `Eurovision' international
song contest I expect only victory!
- As to you, with what the `Apricot Stone' song may achieve success?
- This song has a humanitarian importance, it will be cordial and will
be accepted not only by the Armenian audience but by the Europeans
too. It has big opportunity to win.
- In what stage are the preparatory works for the `Eurovision'
international song contest?
- Currently works are being carried out to present the song in the
European countries, visits are planned to a number of European
countries where many Armenians live. In the near future we are going
to shoot and present the clip of the song.
- There are opinions that your not enough knowledge of Armenian may be
an obstacle during your meetings with the representatives of the
Armenian community in other countries. Do you work to improve the
knowledge of the Armenian?
- Of course, I have always noted that I am working in that direction.
I know Armenian and I understand it quite well but as far as I am a
maximalist, I do not like presenting to the public partial works. Now
I am not speaking in Armenian fluentl,y but I assure that some time
later I will be able to speak freely.
- During the recent period talks about the unfair contest of the
Armenian round are in the circulation. Will this impede your work?
- I do not think that some groundless gossips may impede my work.
Especially when I hear the sounds of my songs in every corner of our
town, which gives me more enthusiasm to continue working: all the
gossips lose their sense. I have a clear goal and I am doing my best
to bring it into life.
I want to thank our compatriots for their love and warmth. I am
grateful that they believed and trusted me. I assure that I will
present Armenia with dignity and will do everything to bring
`Eurovision 2011' to Armenia.
