160 NKR CITIZENS, INCLUDING GOVERNMENT MEMBERS JOIN ARMENIAN BONE MARROW DONOR REGISTRY

Fund marks the decade in 2010. A number of commemorative events
launched on 8 January in the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic,
Stepanakert. A festive concert, "Save a Life" and other events were
organized by the Ministry of Health, Culture and Youth Affairs of
NKR and ABMDR.
Concert, which lasted 6 hours, was aimed at increasing the number of
donors. 160 people between18 and 50 became bone marrow donors.
Chairman of the NKR National Assembly Ashot Gulyan, leader of the
Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev
Martirosyan, NKR Minister of Health Armen Khachatryan, Minister of
Culture Narine Aghabalyan were among them.
Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry Charity Fund " was officially
established in Armenia on 8 January 2000. The Registry is aimed to
search appropriate bone marrow donors for patients with leukemia
and other blood diseases in Armenia and the Diaspora. Armenian
Registry cooperates with other existing registries in the world,
promote development of transplantation in Armenia and seek to open
the Center for collection and transplantation of stem cells in Armenia.
