    RUSSIAN EMBASSY: MOSCOW TAKES A FAVOURABLE VIEW OF CONSTRUCTIVE INTERACTION WITH YEREVAN IN FOREIGN POLICY

    ArmInfo. Moscow takes a favourable view of constructive interaction
    with Yerevan in foreign policy within the frames of integration formats
    in CIS space and hopes for fruitful continuation of this work, Russian
    Embassy in Yerevan reports in view of the visit of Russia's Foreign
    Minister Sergey Lavrov to Armenia that starts today.

    The schedule of S. Lavrov's visit includes meetings with Armenian
    President Serzh Sargsyan and negotiations with Foreign Minister of
    Armenia Edward Nalbandyan. The meetings will focus on the opinion
    exchange with the Armenian partners concerning continuation of the
    negotiation process on the Karabakh conflict settlement in the context
    of the mediatory efforts made by Russia for the conflict resolution.

    It is also scheduled to discuss the topical foreign political issues
    of bilateral cooperation and the situation in Transcaucasus.

    "Development of the Russian-Armenian relations is of progressive and
    multidimensional nature. Regular top level political dialogue between
    Russia and Armenia has been preserved. This supports mutual tuning at
    further deepening of the Russian-Armenian partnership relations. In
    2009 Dmitriy Medvedev and Serzh Sargsyan met many times during the
    working visits of the president of Armenia to Russian Federation
    as well as within the frames of various multilateral events. The
    contractual legal framework of the relations is being improved.

    Despite the global crisis the Russian-Armenian trade and economical,
    military and political, humanitarian and inter-regional relations in
    general have been demonstrating positive tendencies of development.

    The trade and economical cooperation between Armenia and Russia
    is promoting stabilizing of the social and economical situation in
    Armenia. In particular, in June 2009 Russia gave a long-term state
    credit $500 mln to Armenia. The large-scale investment projects in
    the sphere of energy and transport are being gradually fulfilled",
    the Embassy's message says.
