New Times party leader Aram Karapetyan agrees with the Armenian
Revolutionary Federation's opinion on the Constitutional Court's
decision on the Armenian-Turkish Protocols.
While speaking to journalists today, Karapetyan said: "In this issue,
we don't disagree whatsoever: both in the Constitutional Court's
assessment and in future activities, we are of the same opinion,
that, generally speaking, the National Assembly shouldn't ratify
these Protocols."
According to the party leader, first, the Protocols contain
preconditions, and second, "such a sloppy document has been offered
that ratifying it in any way means to issue a direct blow to Armenian
diplomacy, which was built over the years - both good, and bad." For
this reason, Karapetyan believes the Protcols shouldn't be ratified,
and that the National Assembly must make certain stipulations.
In the party leader's opinion, pressure must continue to be exerted
on individual parliamentarians, explaining that the Constitutional
Court's decision, the implementation of which is mandatory for all,
is already in existence.
For that reason, according to the politician, they must begin a
series of specific activities and create a document with corresponding
stipulations and reservations, which, according to Karapetyan, include
the following: the issue must not be connected with Nagorno-Karabakh,
the issue of the common border must be discussed in the future,
Armenia doesn't accept the Kars agreement, and the Armenian Genocide
issue continues to remain as part of the country's agenda.
