NO PROGRESS IN MURDER TRIAL THREE YEARS AFTER HRANT DINK'S DEATH

Three years have passed since the death of Hrant Dink, chief editor
of the biligual Armenian-Turkish weekly Agos, and it can be said that
we know as much about the details of that death now as we knew then.
Author of "My Grandmother: A Memoir" and Dink family lawyer, Fethiye
Cetin, in an interview recently, said the court proceedings haven't
moved forward.
"The murder trial began two and a half years ago. However,
unfortunately, I have to note that the court proceedings are at the
stage from which they began. Progress isn't being recorded," said
Cetin, adding that the true criminals, those responsible for the act,
are free.
"We are demanding for the real organizers of Hrant's murder. There's
no development in that direction, though there are state reports,
such as reports from the government, the internal affairs ministry,
[and] Turkey's Grand National Assembly's Human Rights Committee. These
testify to the fact that the state knew the organizers of the murder.
All investigative bodies knew that Hrant was going to be murdered;
there were following Hrant. Why didn't they take any steps to prevent
the murder? Contrary to the existence of all those reports, the real
organizers are being kept hidden," said Cetin.
