ARMENIA'S FM DISCUSSES RESOLVING OF NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT WITH OSCE MINSK GROUP CO-CHAIRMEN

On January 19 Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with
the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen mediating the process of peaceful
settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Yuri
Merzlyakov (Russia), Bernard Fassier (France) and Robert Bradtke
(USA), as well as the personal representative of OSCE Chairman
Andrzej Kasprzyk.
During the meeting the issues concerning the settlement of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were discussed, the Armenian Foreign Ministry
press-service told the agency "News-Armenia".
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988
when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian
armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992,
including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The
co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. -
are currently holding the peace negotiations.
