Where are the former NA deputies who were participating in the
opposition rallies in 2008 and were persecuted for their views?
Two of them, Hakob Hakobyan and Khachatur Sukiasyan, have serious
health problems and are currently abroad. For instance, Hakob
Hakobyan's advocate Melanya Arustamyan told "" that Hakobyan left
for Germany in October to undergo treatment.
As far as his charge for organizing mass disturbances is concerned,
advocate has appealed to the Appeals and Cassation Courts. After no
response, the advocate is now waiting for the defendant's decision
in order to send the appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.
Let us remind that Hakob Hakobyan was sentenced to 5 years in prison
for the events of March 1, but was released by amnesty.
Former NA Deputy Khachatur Sukiasyan is still in Europe where he is
undergoing intensive treatment.
Let us remind that Khachatur Sukiasyan left for Europe in the
last couple of weeks of September due to health problems. He had
difficulties leaving Armenia because his precautionary measure was
his signature to not leave the republic. Only after the telegram sent
by head of the investigative group in charge of the case of "March 1"
Vahagn Harutyunyan to the border guards did Sukiasyan board the plane.
As reported by Khachatur Sukiasyan's office, although he is abroad,
he is still a supporter of the Armenian National Congress.
As for Myasnik Malkhasyan who was released by amnesty, he doesn't have
health problems and continues to actively fight with the opposition.
Sasun Mikayelyan is still in prison and is currently at the "Prisoners'
Hospital" due to health problems. He has been sentenced to 8 years
in prison.
