The new Tulare County Museum of Farm Labor and Agriculture in Visalia,
Calif., is filled with cutting-edge multimedia technology and 200
years' worth of artifacts and narratives celebrating the ethnic
diversity of the area. The Armenian Experience continues through June.
The African American Experience opens in February, while the Dust
Bowl Era opens in July. The 17,000-square-foot, barn-like structure
showcases the rich cultural heritage of the people who have farmed
the valley, beginning with the Native Americans, the influx of
Mexicans during the pre-statehood era, and the arrival of other
ethnic groups like the Armenians, Dutch and Portuguese. (559-733-6616,
