    MIKHEIL SAAKASHVILI INVITES SERZH SARGSYAN TO VISIT GEORGIA

    ArmInfo. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has invited his
    Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan to visit Georgia. The Armenian
    presidential press-service told ArmInfo that the given invitation has
    been passed to the Armenian president by Georgian Prime Minister Nika
    Gilauri, who is currently in Armenia.

    According to the source, during the meeting Serzh Sargsyan pointed
    out that being friendly neighbors, Georgia and Armenia should meet
    more often to discuss the arising issues. "The volume and level
    of our cooperation oblige us to daily turn to these issues in the
    working order",- he stressed. He added that Armenia considers Georgia
    a friendly country and is ready deepen its relations with Georgia.

    For his part, Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri passed the best
    wishes of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili to the Armenian
    president. "Now we have the best friendly relations",- stressed
    Gilauri.

    Serzh Sargsyan asked Gilauri about the work of the bilateral
    intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation. The Georgian
    prime minister pointed out that the 8th sitting of the commission
    was quite efficient today and added that the sitting covered numerous
    issues related to the projects of infrastructural, cultural and social
    nature, and agreements were reached on practically all issues. He
    added that the next sitting of the commission will be held in Georgia.

    Sargsyan and Gilauri exchanged their opinions on the economic state
    in both countries and anti-crisis measures taken. They also touched
    on a number of regional issues.

    According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in Jan-Nov
    2009 the commodity turnover between Armenia and Georgia totalled $82.6
    mln, having decreased by 30,2% as compared with the similar period
    of 2008. The positive balance of the Armenian-Georgian commodity
    turnover amounted to $13.8 mln, having decreased by 61% as compared
    with Jan-Nov 2008.
