The power of Cuba announced about its intention to free 52 political
prisoners. The decision was taken after negotiations between the
authorities of Cuba and the Catholic Church of Rome. In the last
phase of the negotiations, the Spanish foreign minister Moratinos
also joined them. First 5 prisoners will be freed on these days,
the other 47 during the upcoming months, stated that representative
of the Rome Catholic Church.
These 52 political prisoners were arrested in 2006 and sentenced to
6-28 years in prison. Then, 75 dissidents were arrested.
Let us hope that the Armenian government will follow the example of
its Cuban counterparts.
