ARMENIA'S ARTUR ALEKSANIAN WINS GOLD IN BUDAPEST

The World Youth Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship ended in Budapest
on July 21, bringing a signal victory to Armenia's Artur Aleksanian.
Artur Aleksanian (in the 84 kg) won over Austrian Kevin Frank (12:0),
Swede Johan Tobias Kvarnmark (8:2), Russian Makhmoud Bashiev (8:1,
0:1, 2:0), and Ukrainian Jean Belenyuk (3:0). In the final round
Aleksanian overcame a fighter from South Korea.
Thus, the Armenian national team headed by Director of the Sport
College, Gevorg Aleksanian, returned home with one gold and one bronze
medals. The bronze was taken by Aleksan Mikaelian (in the 60 kg).
On July 23, Budapest will host the world championship of freestyle
wrestling. Five athletes from Armenia are prepared for champs by
Coach Avetik Vardanian.
