ArmInfo. At today's meeting in Rostov-on-Don, Armenian and Russian
Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Dmitry Medvedev discussed the current
issues of Russian-Armenian cooperation. The official website of the
Kremlin says that the Russian president told his Armenian counterpart
about the results of the Russia-EU summit.
Medvedev said: "As close partners and strategic allies, we should
meet often, and actually, we do so. You have recently come to Moscow
to mark the 65th anniversary of Victory of our common state over
the fascist invaders". He thanked the Armenian president once again
for being in Russia on that day, and added that this demonstrates
the close relations between Armenia and Russia and their desire to
develop strategic relations in the future.
According to Dmitry Medvedev, today's meeting is a good opportunity
to exchange thoughts about the current situation. "Certainly, there
are economic issues that we always discuss during your visits or my
visits to Armenia. There are regional issues as well",- he said. "I
had several important trips where we discussed the situation around
the Turkish-Armenian rapprochement and some other issues as well. I
had contacts with several European counterparts. So, I have a lot to
tell you",- said Medvedev.
For his part, the Armenian president expressed his gratitude for the
invitation and warm reception and stressed that working meetings are
very important.
"A number of key names of Armenian scientific and creative
intelligentsia are connected with Rostov-on- Don. There is a big
Armenian community here. Today I am going to meet with representatives
of Diaspora of Southern Russia. Certainly, we'll speak about our
national affairs. At the same time, I'd like to recall that a good
Armenia of Diaspora is a good demanded citizen of Russia",- said
Sargsyan.
