Armenia will see 40% less apricot this year due to the early-spring bad
weather conditions, Armenia's Agriculture Minister Gerasim Alaverdyan
told a press conference today, adding that the price of apricots this
year will be rather high.
Alaverdyan further mentioned that the scale of damage bad weather
conditions have caused to agriculture this year has yet to be finally
clarified.
"Last year the damage that natural calamities caused agriculture made
12 billion AMD of which 6 billion AMD had been caused by hail. The
government still holds discussions to clarify the scale of the damage,"
said he.
In his words, this year's frostbite and hail have mainly hit the
Armavir, Gyumri, Gegharquniq, Shirak and Syunik marzes (province).
