BUDGET OF PROGRAM ON CREATION OF GNISHIK REGIONAL RESERVE TO TOTAL $500,000

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Territorial
Administration Armen Gevorgyan visited Vayots Dzor region of the
country.
During a meeting with participation of region's Governor Vardgez
Matevosyan and Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelyan, the Armenian
office of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) submitted a program on creation
of Gnishik regional reserve. Its implementation will provide with the
opportunity to preserve the territory's natural biological diversity,
develop ecotourism and improve the social and economic situation of
the communities.
According to the program, the reserve will occupy a territory of
10,000ha. Development of tourism may become an alternative source of
income for the local population. The program budget will total around
$500,000 to be allocated by the WWF and UNDP.
Armen Gevorgyan also visited Noravank complex. A museum will be opened
here in the framework of events dedicated to the 750th anniversary
of medieval architect Momik. The Deputy Prime Minister inspected the
implemented works.
Besides, Gevorgyan met with heads of communities to discuss social
and economic problems.
