Premiere of `Aida' Delayed
YEREVAN, JUNE 11, ARMENPRESS: The premier of `Aida' opera by Verdi
intended in June in the National Opera and Ballet Academic Theater
after Al. Spendiaryan has been delayed. Conductor Harutyun Arzumanyan
told Armenpress that the rehearsals are over and only the clothes of
the participants and some accessories connected with decoration are
not yet ready. That is why the premiere of `Aida' is delayed; it will
probably take place in autumn. The opera is staged with the support of
Armenia and Italy. It will consist of 4 actions.
J. Verdi has written his world famous opera in 1970 on the basis of an
Ancient Greek epos - `Aida'. The premiere of the opera was held
December 24, 1871 in Cairo. `Aida' epos dates back to the epoch of
regular collisions between ancient Egyptian pharaohs and Nubi tribe.
It is a splendid example of love and devotion, which touches upon love
toward the homeland, parents and clashes for them.
