RA President Serzh Sargsyan Receives Delegation of French National Assembly
YEREVAN, JUNE 11, ARMENPRESS: RA President Serzh Sargsyan received
today the French National Assembly's delegation, which arrived in
Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh at the initiative of Co-Chair of the
Armenian-French Parliamentary Friendship Group Francois Roshbluan. The
Presidential press service told Armenpress that President Serzh
Sargsyan welcomed the guests and said he appreciates their decision to
visit Artsakh.
`This gave you an opportunity to get acquainted with the situation in
loco, to listen to the authorities of Nagorno Karabakh and ordinary
people, living there, to understand their aspirations and the
challenges to be met. And this all will give you an opportunity to
present at the corresponding meetings not mediated information, but
the reality you saw and heard,' Mr. Serzh Sargsyan said.
The guests told about their impressions and asked a plenty of
questions to the President mainly about the prospects of development
of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, as well as about the position of the
Armenian side on the settlement of issues with Azerbaijan and Turkey.
The French Parliamentarians said their ideas about Artsakh have
changed a lot since their visit. They said it is quite clear that
people in Nagorno Karabakh try to organize their social life in
accordance with the democratic rules.
They added that the next Parliamentarian elections of Artsakh are the
proofs of the statement. The French deputies also said they are
impressed with the fact Stepanakert is quite clear, safe and
well-preserved; this is not characteristic to cities, they said, which
live under the threat of war. President Serzh Sargsyan expressed his
gratitude to the French deputies for their consistent interest in
Armenia and Artsakh. He said the parliamentarian cooperation is one of
