YEREVAN, JUNE 14, ARMENPRESS: The French mass media are well aware
of the historical of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, but they are now
concerned with another issue- the delaying process of normalization
of the Armenian-Turkish relations, Michel Wieviorka, head of the
'House of Humanitarian Sciences' foundation of Paris, said at
today's meeting with journalists. According to him, the French mass
media are inclined to think that the process of normalization of the
Armenian-Turkish relations failed, because Turkey tended to propose
the issue of regulation of the NK conflict as a precondition.
'The mass media in France realize that the Armenian side acted in
quite a good manner in the situation, created during the process of
normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations. Armenia did not
try to make the situation extreme, showing the whole world that,
in contrast to Turkey, it is ready to continue the process and does
not see any obstacles by the Armenian side,' Michel Wieviorka stated.
He says, in contrast to the Turkish community, which is neither
organized nor united, the Armenian community of France has become
a guarantee for that the French mass media cover the situation in a
right way. 'There is a strong, educated and united Armenian community
in France, which, unlike the Turkish community, always stands for
the protection of the interests of its country,' Michel Wieviorka said.
